Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Roger da Costa kicked off to start the match. If Rubinho Catarinense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Durvalino da Silveira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Richard Antunes was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Rodrigo Matorin showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 11 minute of play. Esmeraldas's Rodrigo Matorin got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rodrigo Matorin blasted a shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Richard Antunes having to make a save. After a rather tough play, Riachao's Alan Tavares got a free kick in the 25th minute. In the 27th minute, Wilson Gomes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 30 minutes into the match, Esmeraldas's Rodrigo Matorin sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Richard Antunes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 33 minutes into the match, Riachao's goal looked a bit too open when Rodrigo Matorin came free, but Richard Antunes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Chico Ribeiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rodrigo Matorin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rodrigo Matorin made a kick off. Rodrigo Matorin might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Richard Antunes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rodrigo Matorin ran back to his position shaking his head. The crowd rose to their feet as Riachao's Rubinho Catarinense slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Patrick Paulista. That made the score 2-1 after 57 minutes of play. 67 minutes into the game, Wilson Gomes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Riachao's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Esmeraldas the free kick. In the 68th minute of the match Luís Fabiano Figueiredo shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Richard Antunes showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After having played for 69 minutes, Rodrigo Matorin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Esmeraldas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rodrigo Matorin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rodrigo Matorin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Richard Antunes having to interfere. Wilson Gomes hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Rodrigo Matorin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 79th match minute, Riachao was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Silvério Senna to maneuver through the defense. Richard Antunes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodrigo Matorin in the 80th minute of play. Chico Ribeiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Richard Antunes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Riachao's Richard Antunes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rodrigo Matorin in the 85th minute of play. Esmeraldas's Rodrigo Matorin got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodrigo Matorin in the 90th minute of play forced Riachao's goalkeeper Richard Antunes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Esmeraldas fully deserved thier win.
