After 21 played minutes Vasco SA got a freekick which was hit by Claudinho Amaral. Valério da Silva charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Valério da Silva the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Eduardo Garcia managed to get in a good position for a shot. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cafu de Brito couldn't finish the play. Avallon F.C's Alberto Batista played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudinho Amaral in the 35th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eduardo Garcia in the 38th minute of play forced Avallon F.C's goalkeeper Alberto Batista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Avallon F.C defense, Claudinho Amaral kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alberto Batista. The Avallon F.C fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alberto Batista should have stopped the shot. Avallon F.C's Alberto Batista played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eduardo Garcia in the 44th minute of play. Vasco SA's Edmílson de Senna proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 48th minute of the match, managed to save Vasco SA from getting a goal against them. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Humberto Esteves was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Vasco SA's zone, Humberto Esteves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edmílson de Senna came out of the goal and Humberto Esteves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 58 minutes of play, Avallon F.C's Humberto Esteves made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Edmílson de Senna was left in no man's land by his defense there! 64 minutes into the game, Cafu de Brito cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Alberto Batista was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Valério da Silva kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. In the 70th minute, Rui Proença got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Vasco SA's Cafu de Brito got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Alberto Batista came out of the goal in the 77th minute to try and stop a shot by Vasco SA's Gerson Souza. But to his dismay, Gerson Souza quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. After having played for 82 minutes, Cafu de Brito managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vasco SA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cafu de Brito was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 97th minute, Roberto Ramos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
