Indianopolis's Reginaldo Neves was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 12th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. In the 14th minute, Jaime Nóbrega hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Frank Cardozo took the ball and in the 17 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Elói Nogueira. Elói Nogueira dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. If Diguinho Campidelis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jaime Nóbrega received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Elói Nogueira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sonny Dahlman in the 30th minute of play forced Madeira's goalkeeper Elói Nogueira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Leonel Seco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronaldão Couto, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. In the 32nd minute, Reginaldo Neves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 35 minutes of play, Indianopolis's Sonny Dahlman made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Elói Nogueira was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Raúl Lira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sonny Dahlman stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Elói Nogueira was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After having played for 73 minutes, Frank Cardozo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Indianopolis's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frank Cardozo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Indianopolis fully deserved thier win.
