Samuca Romero took the ball and in the 18 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Paulo Renato França. Paulo Renato França dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Paulo Renato França made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from André Medeiros in the 23rd minute of play. Adhemar Amorim's late challenge caught a Calcere's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Adhemar Amorim helped the player get up and apologised. After 25 played minutes Canaa got a freekick which was hit by Adhemar Amorim. The audience thought a goal was coming when Leopoldo Lara got free with Dieguinho Souza in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dieguinho Souza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adhemar Amorim in the 31st minute of play. After 33 minutes, Eliézer Vinhas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Canaa and the Calcere players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Canaa booed when Calcere was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nelson de Andrade didn't get a good kick on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for André Medeiros to strike the kick off in the second half. With 51 minutes on the clock, Márcio Mesquita commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. A collision led to Calcere getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Márcio Mesquita hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leopoldo Lara in the 54th minute of play forced Calcere's goalkeeper Dieguinho Souza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dieguinho Souza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iuri Prestes in the 55th minute of play. When Leopoldo Lara fell near the penalty area in the 57th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Canaa's protests and gave Leopoldo Lara a yellow card for diving instead. Leopoldo Lara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dieguinho Souza having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leopoldo Lara in the 62nd minute of play forced Calcere's goalkeeper Dieguinho Souza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Canaa's Paulo Renato França proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Canaa from getting a goal against them. Dieguinho Souza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leopoldo Lara in the 71st minute of play. Dieguinho Souza came out of the goal in the 73rd minute to try and stop a shot by Canaa's Leopoldo Lara. But to his dismay, Leopoldo Lara quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. When Abelardo Varela fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Calcere's protests and gave Abelardo Varela a yellow card for diving instead. Abelardo Varela kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Calcere's Dieguinho Souza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zacarias Urbano in the 80th minute of play.
