Spectators: 7164 (Terracing: 5374, Seating: 1648, VIP seats: 142) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Tiago Teixeira started the match with the kick off. Francisco Oliveira took the ball and in the 4 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Reynaldo de Barros. Reynaldo de Barros dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valdomiro Mota in the 9th minute of play forced Gurupi E.c's goalkeeper Nelson Moraes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Ponta Negra FC - RN's Luís Fernando Custódio got a free kick in the 16th minute. 18 minutes into the game, Ediberto Rodrigues was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ponta Negra FC - RN's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gurupi E.c the free kick. After 19 played minutes Ponta Negra FC - RN got a freekick which was hit by Ediberto Rodrigues. Reynaldo de Barros stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tiago Teixeira's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. In the 23rd minute of the match Ponta Negra FC - RN got a corner. Gurupi E.c's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luís Fernando Custódio ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Ponta Negra FC - RN's Luís Fernando Custódio to fire away a dangerous shot which Nelson Moraes despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Reynaldo de Barros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tiago Teixeira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 28th minute, Ponta Negra FC - RN's Valdomiro Mota ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Nelson Moraes. Nelson Moraes yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. Gurupi E.c's Telmo Bueno got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tiago Teixeira in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Reynaldo de Barros prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Telmo Bueno received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Reynaldo de Barros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 38 minutes, Valdomiro Mota mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ponta Negra FC - RN and the Gurupi E.c players grew even worse after the yellow card. If Tiago Teixeira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Valdomiro Mota to strike the kick off in the second half. Tiago Teixeira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reynaldo de Barros having to interfere. Silverio Umbruso shot from long distance in the 61st minute, but Reynaldo de Barros was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. Nelson Moraes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valdomiro Mota in the 63rd minute of play. Reynaldo de Barros made an important save on a dangerous shot by Silverio Umbruso in the 70th minute. The supporters of Ponta Negra FC - RN booed when Gurupi E.c was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Telmo Bueno didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nelson Moraes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valdomiro Mota, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ponta Negra FC - RN's Reynaldo de Barros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tiago Teixeira in the 80th minute of play. Tiago Teixeira might have been able to make a better finish in the 86th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Reynaldo de Barros. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tiago Teixeira ran back to his position shaking his head. Tiago Teixeira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Reynaldo de Barros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 93rd minute Henry Bäckström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Reynaldo de Barros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 97th minute, Tiago Teixeira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Reynaldo de Barros was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. The Ponta Negra FC - RN fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Gurupi E.c were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
