The supporters of Murereibu SC booed when Paula SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sipke Koster didn't get a good kick on the ball. Murereibu SC's Valério Paiva shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 7th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Amauri Vander but with some difficulty. When Zé Roberto Berger fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Paula SS's protests and gave Zé Roberto Berger a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Paula SS's Zé Roberto Berger got a free kick in the 10th minute. Valério Paiva struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Amauri Vander didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Murereibu SC. Claudinho Fontes hit a great ball. 19 minutes into the match, Murereibu SC's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Paulo Abreu came free, but Renato da Cunha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Luís Paulo Abreu came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Paula SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luís Paulo Abreu couldn't finish the play. After having played for 22 minutes, Luís Paulo Abreu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Paula SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luís Paulo Abreu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luís Paulo Abreu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 27 minutes, Tomé Mangueira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Paula SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomé Mangueira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Paula SS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Claudinho Fontes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Zé Roberto Berger took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 39th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Renato da Cunha. Murereibu SC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After having played for 46 minutes, Luís Paulo Abreu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Paula SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luís Paulo Abreu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Almir Macedo's late challenge caught a Paula SS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Almir Macedo helped the player get up and apologised. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

52 minutes into the game, Leopoldo Mendonça was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Murereibu SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Paula SS the free kick. Celso Ferreira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 57 minutes into the match, Paula SS's goal looked a bit too open when Claudinho Fontes came free, but Amauri Vander reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 58 minutes into the match, Paula SS's goal looked a bit too open when Naldo Gaúcho came free, but Amauri Vander reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Murereibu SC's zone, Luís Paulo Abreu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Renato da Cunha came out of the goal and Luís Paulo Abreu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Murereibu SC's Naldo Gaúcho suffered a concussion in the 85th minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. After a rather tough play, Paula SS's Olívio Cosme got a free kick in the 86th minute. Dráusio Dante kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. Valério Paiva, 88 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Celso Ferreira's late challenge caught a Murereibu SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Celso Ferreira helped the player get up and apologised. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudinho Fontes in the 96th minute of play forced Paula SS's goalkeeper Amauri Vander to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Murereibu SC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
