Romeu Saldanha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Afonso Paes in the 4th minute of the match. The supporters of Red Devils F.C. booed when SurpeFla FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Júnior Seco didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Marquinhos Breckenfeld had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 11 minutes into the match, Afonso Paes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Romeu Saldanha. SurpeFla FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Afonso Paes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. When Cícero Nogueira came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the SurpeFla FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cícero Nogueira couldn't finish the play. Fred Tepedino charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fred Tepedino the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 19 minutes, Luiz Paulo Melo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SurpeFla FC and the Red Devils F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. Luiz Paulo Melo hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marquinhos Breckenfeld in the 21st minute of play forced SurpeFla FC's goalkeeper Romeu Saldanha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 32 minutes, Cícero Nogueira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SurpeFla FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cícero Nogueira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Red Devils F.C.'s Vágner Vidal got control of the ball when Cícero Nogueira tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 44 played minutes SurpeFla FC got a freekick which was hit by Romário da Rocha. If Fred Tepedino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Fred Tepedino stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A hard shot 55 in the game by Afonso Paes from a close distance when the talented Romeu Saldanha managed to make a qualified save. SurpeFla FC's players were relieved. Marquinhos Breckenfeld sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in SurpeFla FC's zone, Marquinhos Breckenfeld stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Romeu Saldanha came out of the goal and Marquinhos Breckenfeld tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 68 minutes into the game, Red Devils F.C.'s Afonso Paes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Romeu Saldanha made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Ezequiel Mattos kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. In the 72nd minute Marquinhos Breckenfeld shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Romeu Saldanha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 74thth minute of the game Marquinhos Breckenfeld who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SurpeFla FC's Romeu Saldanha was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 81 minutes of play, Red Devils F.C.'s Afonso Paes made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Romeu Saldanha was left in no man's land by his defense there! Oswaldo Pires kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match.
