After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Dudu Dantas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nilopolis's supporters rose to their feet, but Dudu Dantas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cafu Santana breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Dudu Dantas came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Nilopolis fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dudu Dantas couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Nilopolis's Hélder Camargo got control of the ball when Lenílson Vale tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Nilopolis getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Zézinho Dias hit a great ball. Alex Travassos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Hélder Camargo made a huge save. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dudu Dantas to make the kick off. Rafa Valladares kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Nilopolis's Tales Lucas shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 60th minute of play. A very good chance. Hélder Camargo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lenílson Vale in the 71st minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lenílson Vale in the 72nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hélder Camargo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Lenílson Vale had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 80 minutes, Dito Medeiros managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nilopolis's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dito Medeiros was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Alex Travassos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 88 minutes Nilopolis's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Valdo Damião who took care of the corner kick. When Alex Travassos came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Argos Web Clube fans jumped to their feet. The audience was convinced that Dudu Dantas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cafu Santana was relentless in the 95th minute of the game.
