Macatuba EC's Walmyr Campidelis got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dudu Arósio was extremely unlucky when he, in the 6th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. With his leg Márcio Cerezo managed to avoid a goal in the 8thth minute, when Macatuba EC's Walmyr Campidelis fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 9th minute, Macatuba EC's Dudu Arósio dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Walmyr Campidelis got free with Márcio Cerezo in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 26th minute, Gabriel Meira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pedro Augusto Mendonça fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 28th minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball bounced in the crossbar and then went out. It was a very nice shot. After having played for 31 minutes, Pedro Augusto Mendonça managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Macatuba EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pedro Augusto Mendonça was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cristian Castro received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Márcio Cerezo came out and tried to block the shot, but Cristian Castro slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 35th minute. Walmyr Campidelis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Márcio Cerezo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Márcio Cerezo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dudu Arósio in the 40th minute of the match. If Álvaro Meira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marcelo Viana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristóvão Guerra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cristóvão Guerra in the 48th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marcelo Viana prevented the ball from getting in the gole.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dudu Arósio was the one to do the kick off. When Walmyr Campidelis came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Macatuba EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Walmyr Campidelis couldn't finish the play. Cristóvão Guerra's late challenge caught a Macatuba EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cristóvão Guerra helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Santos EC getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Cristóvão Guerra hit a great ball. In the 62nd match minute, Santos EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Álvaro Meira to maneuver through the defense. Walmyr Campidelis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Márcio Cerezo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Macatuba EC booed when Santos EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sandrinho Tande didn't get a good kick on the ball. Márcio Cerezo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Walmyr Campidelis in the 70th minute of play. Cristóvão Guerra struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Marcelo Viana didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Santos EC. The supporters of Macatuba EC booed when Santos EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Filipe Varela didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marcelo Viana showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristóvão Guerra, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. 81 minutes into the match, Santos EC's Cristóvão Guerra sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marcelo Viana narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Walmyr Campidelis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Márcio Cerezo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. Walmyr Campidelis took the ball and in the 88 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Márcio Cerezo. Márcio Cerezo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. After a rather tough play, Macatuba EC's Pedro Augusto Mendonça got a free kick in the 92nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Filipe Varela managed to get in a good position for a shot. Santos EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Filipe Varela was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcelo Viana breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. For all the effort they put into the match, the Santos EC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Macatuba EC.
