After 6 played minutes Maricoabo got a freekick which was hit by Dionísio Koehler. The audience was convinced that André Hermes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sérgio Reis was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. André Hermes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sérgio Reis having to interfere. Maricoabo's Sérgio Reis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by André Hermes in the 20th minute of play. After 21 minutes Maricoabo's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Evandro Saraiva who took care of the corner kick. Dionísio Koehler charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dionísio Koehler the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Maricoabo getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Dionísio Koehler hit a great ball. Alexsandro Rossi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Otávio Meireles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Maricoabo's zone, Zé Pedro Ortiz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sérgio Reis came out of the goal and Zé Pedro Ortiz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some careless play in the Maricoabo defense, André Hermes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sérgio Reis. The Maricoabo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sérgio Reis should have stopped the shot. If Sidnei Bertassi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The wind increased when Alexsandro Rossi made the kick off in the second half. When Jorginho Quirino came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Cacarongonga fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jorginho Quirino couldn't finish the play. When Valdo Esteves fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Maricoabo's protests and gave Valdo Esteves a yellow card for diving instead. Sérgio Reis made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Jorginho Quirino sent off a good shot on target. Cacarongonga's Otávio Meireles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexsandro Rossi in the 65th minute of play. André Hermes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sérgio Reis having to interfere. A hard shot 69 in the game by Jorginho Quirino from a close distance when the talented Sérgio Reis managed to make a qualified save. Maricoabo's players were relieved. In the 70th minute, Sidnei Bertassi made a precise shot to the right of Otávio Meireles. Cacarongonga's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Cacarongonga eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
