Luís Velasco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Erik Trigo made a huge save. Andrézinho Nascimento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfredão da Fonseca having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcus Dahlqvist in the 26th minute of play forced Herval FC's goalkeeper Alfredão da Fonseca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 30th minute, Jeferson Rossi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 33rd minute Andrézinho Nascimento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfredão da Fonseca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Herval FC's Alfredão da Fonseca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andrézinho Nascimento in the 34th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Carlos Alberto Rocha in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Erik Trigo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Herval FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Pedro Augusto Figueiredo in the 38th minute. Jeferson Rossi kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Andrézinho Nascimento to strike the kick off in the second half. If Jorginho Vale had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 54 minutes, Jorginho Vale managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Itapinimba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jorginho Vale was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alfredão da Fonseca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jorginho Vale in the 56th minute of play. Alfredão da Fonseca made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Marcus Dahlqvist sent off a good shot on target. When the match had gone on for 61 minutes, Marcus Dahlqvist put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Alfredão da Fonseca. With a little luck, Herval FC's Alfredão da Fonseca got control of the ball when Witalis Luty tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Andrézinho Nascimento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
