Evaristo Montenegro was extremely unlucky when he, in the 14th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Itapinimba's Erik Trigo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Evaristo Montenegro in the 16th minute of play. Luís Catarinense lost his temper 17 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 17th minute, one of Itapinimba:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Itapinimba. When the match had been going on for 19 minutes, Esporte Clube Ypiranga's Fiori Borges got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Erik Trigo. Andrézinho Nascimento recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Esporte Clube Ypiranga booed when Itapinimba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. William Amaral didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nilton Senna charged in rather forcefully in the 36th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nilton Senna the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 36th match minute, Itapinimba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nilton Senna to maneuver through the defense. Evaristo Montenegro received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Erik Trigo came out and tried to block the shot, but Evaristo Montenegro slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 43rd minute. In the 46th minute Jorginho Vale shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Naldo de Sousa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Andrézinho Nascimento stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Naldo de Sousa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from William Amaral in the 67th minute of the match. When André Luiz Freire came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Esporte Clube Ypiranga fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that André Luiz Freire couldn't finish the play. Erik Trigo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from André Luiz Freire in the 73rd minute of the match. André Luiz Freire recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 75th match minute, Itapinimba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by William Amaral to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by André Luiz Freire during the 79th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Naldo de Sousa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jorginho Vale, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jorginho Vale fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Naldo de Sousa having to interfere. André Luiz Freire received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Erik Trigo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
