In the 54thth minute of the game João Augusto Pombal who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Joinvile AD's Rodriguinho Galvão was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 55th minute, Joinvile AD's Armando Quirino seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Armando Quirino the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Joinvile AD protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Armando Quirino had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. A collision led to Joinvile AD getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Armando Quirino hit a great ball. Gerson Paranaense's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rodriguinho Galvão read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play. 58 minutes into the match, Joinvile AD's goal looked a bit too open when João Augusto Pombal came free, but Rodriguinho Galvão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 63rd minute, Leopoldo Meireles ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal.
