Severino Marques made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilton Montenegro in the 6th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Lirex's zone, Marcinho de Lima stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edgar Montinho came out of the goal and Marcinho de Lima tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Samuca Gonçalves kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. Gongogi's defense didn't have a chance, in the 16th minute, when Cristóvão Torres scored to the left of an out of position Severino Marques, making the score, 2-0. 19 minutes into the game, Wilton Montenegro lined in a short shot 3-0 behind a frustrated Severino Marques. Christiano de Godoy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Severino Marques having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cristóvão Torres in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Severino Marques prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Wilton Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Severino Marques made an important save on a dangerous shot by Christiano de Godoy in the 30th minute. Cristóvão Torres sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With his leg Severino Marques managed to avoid a goal in the 35thth minute, when Lirex's Cristóvão Torres fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After 39 minutes, André Velloso mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lirex and the Gongogi players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Lirex's André Velloso got a free kick in the 39th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcinho de Lima in the 40th minute of play forced Lirex's goalkeeper Edgar Montinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Christiano de Godoy came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Lirex fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Christiano de Godoy couldn't finish the play. After 48 minutes of play, Lirex's Christiano de Godoy made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Severino Marques was left in no man's land by his defense there! When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cristóvão Torres to make the kick off. After having played for 55 minutes, Samuel Gomes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gongogi's supporters crossed their fingers, but Samuel Gomes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Zé Roberto Meirelles charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Zé Roberto Meirelles the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Lirex booed when Gongogi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zé Roberto Meirelles didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 61st minute of the match Jimmy Björkdahl sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Severino Marques skillfully saved the ball. After 63 minutes, Wilton Montenegro made it 5-0 with a short kick to the right side. Gongogi's Severino Marques tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Gongogi's Severino Marques played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christiano de Godoy in the 68th minute of play. Cristóvão Torres's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Severino Marques read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. Severino Marques took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristóvão Torres, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Aloísio Peres fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gongogi's protests and gave Aloísio Peres a yellow card for diving instead. In the 77th match minute, Gongogi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aloísio Peres to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristóvão Torres in the 79th minute of play forced Gongogi's goalkeeper Severino Marques to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Christiano de Godoy came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Lirex fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Christiano de Godoy couldn't finish the play. In the 83rd minute Cristóvão Torres shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Severino Marques saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 91 played minutes Lirex got a freekick which was hit by Tião Lara. Christiano de Godoy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lirex's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
