The corner led Flamengo's Alberto Vaz to fire away a dangerous shot which José Carlos Paraíba despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Zézinho Cabral kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. When Vitório Queiroz fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. In the 76th minute Jano da Costa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gláuber de Andrade saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Flamengo getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Vitório Queiroz hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Geovânio Gonçalves in the 78th minute of play forced Flamengo's goalkeeper Gláuber de Andrade to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Evandro Soeiro hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match.
