A collision led to CORINTHIANS getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Benedito Godoi hit a great ball. Narciso Macedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Hernani Albuquerque tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Narciso Macedo might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hernani Albuquerque. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Narciso Macedo ran back to his position shaking his head. Narciso Macedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Romeu Paraíba's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 22ndth minute, Hernani Albuquerque skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 28 minutes into the match, Narciso Macedo dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Hernani Albuquerque, 1-0. Goya FC's Zé Augusto Urbano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Walmir Aguiar in the 32nd minute of play. Zé Augusto Urbano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sílvio Luiz Paulista, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. In the last second Hernani Albuquerque throw himself and got hold of the ball when Romeu Paraíba in the 45thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. 47 minutes had been played when some careless play by CORINTHIANS's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Gernando Hoffmann was slow to take the kick. During this time Goya FC's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Goya FC's Gernando Hoffmann to fire away a dangerous shot which Hernani Albuquerque despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Romeu Paraíba stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Hernani Albuquerque took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Narciso Macedo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 57th minute, CORINTHIANS's Nelsinho Teles ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Zé Augusto Urbano. Zé Augusto Urbano yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. Romeu Paraíba sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 64th minute, Rafinha Bueno hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dráusio Matos charged in rather forcefully in the 68th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dráusio Matos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The audience was convinced that Romeu Paraíba's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hernani Albuquerque was relentless in the 69th minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Romeu Paraíba managed to get in a good position for a shot. Goya FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Romeu Paraíba was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hernani Albuquerque breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Goya FC fans' excitement grew in the 78th match minute when Goya FC's Romeu Paraíba looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Hernani Albuquerque showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Narciso Macedo in the 84th minute of the match. Sílvio Luiz Paulista recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Romeu Paraíba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
