When Geovânio Meirelles, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 21 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Celso Pirani was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Elias Vides hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Fernão Vergílio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agostinho Barreto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Donatello Paranaense kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Geovânio Meirelles's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Celso Pirani read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. In the 36th minute, Viveiros EC's Elivélton Tinoco seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Elivélton Tinoco the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Viveiros EC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Elivélton Tinoco had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in Viveiros EC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 35th minute. Penalty! Jânio Galvão walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When Horácio Moreno came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Viveiros EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Horácio Moreno couldn't finish the play. Noel Moraes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Celso Pirani having to interfere.
