When the match clock showed 8 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Kléber Vasconcelos sped through Pokhrane's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Mário Pimenta. Mário Pimenta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Anselmo Rezende made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raphael Silveira in the 17th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Taborda's zone, Raphael Silveira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Anselmo Rezende came out of the goal and Raphael Silveira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Chico Vides sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Taborda getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Silas Vasconcelos hit a great ball. Kléber Vasconcelos struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Mário Pimenta didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Taborda. After having played for 42 minutes, Sérgio Motta managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Taborda's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sérgio Motta was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sérgio Motta succeeded in the game's 44th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-2. Kléber Vasconcelos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 49th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mário Pimenta having to interfere.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sérgio Motta made a kick off. Anselmo Rezende took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raphael Silveira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mário Pimenta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sérgio Motta in the 58th minute of play. Silas Vasconcelos hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. When Taborda's Sérgio Motta, in the 64th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Taborda. When Kléber Vasconcelos got free in front of the goal in the 68th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Mário Pimenta was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. In the 73rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Pokhrane's goalkeeper Mário Pimenta, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 83 played minutes Pokhrane got a freekick which was hit by Ramón Cunha. When Sérgio Motta came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Taborda fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sérgio Motta couldn't finish the play. After 92 played minutes Pokhrane got a freekick which was hit by Cafu Dantas. If Kléber Vasconcelos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Pokhrane fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Taborda were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
