The Universidade HT fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Norberto Neto should have stopped the shot. Robinho Coutinho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Norberto Neto read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. After the first half Paricatuba SC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alan Macedo to strike the kick off in the second half. Nilson Moreno fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Afonsinho Magalhães having to interfere. In the 57th minute, Robinho Coutinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
