Spectators: 7229 (Terracing: 5423, Seating: 1663, VIP seats: 143) FC Fofatoba's Nelsinho Pereira started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Reynaldo Maranhense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ezequiel Sabóia, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. After 4 played minutes FC Fofatoba got a freekick which was hit by Arí Catarinense. Saguoes's Amauri Pontes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sidnei Ramalho in the 7th minute of play. In the 8th match minute, Saguoes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fiori da Cunha to maneuver through the defense. Amauri Pontes was out of position in the 10 minute of play, and Nelsinho Pereira capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Nelsinho Pereira really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. After a defensive mix-up in Saguoes's zone, Sidnei Ramalho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Amauri Pontes came out of the goal and Sidnei Ramalho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nelsinho Pereiras short, quick shot in the 15thth minute got Amauri Pontes to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 18th minute, Ezequiel Sabóia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fiori da Cunha's late challenge caught a FC Fofatoba's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Fiori da Cunha helped the player get up and apologised. After 20 played minutes Saguoes got a freekick which was hit by Fiori da Cunha. Reynaldo Maranhense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dorival Branco, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Dorival Branco took the ball and in the 26 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Reynaldo Maranhense. Reynaldo Maranhense dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. FC Fofatoba's Sidnei Ramalho got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Fiori da Cunha was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 30 minutes had been played. In the 31st minute, Fiori da Cunha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. FC Fofatoba's Reynaldo Maranhense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enéas Alves in the 33rd minute of play. If Nelsinho Pereira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Nicolas Severo managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Fofatoba's supporters rose to their feet, but Nicolas Severo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Amauri Pontes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of FC Fofatoba booed when Saguoes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ezequiel Sabóia didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nelsinho Pereira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amauri Pontes having to interfere. In the 47th minute, Arí Catarinense sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Saguoes's Amauri Pontes didn't even have to move. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Dorival Branco made the kick off in the second half. After having played for 51 minutes, Sidnei Ramalho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Fofatoba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sidnei Ramalho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in FC Fofatoba's zone, Enéas Alves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Reynaldo Maranhense came out of the goal and Enéas Alves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 59 minutes into the match, Saguoes's goal looked a bit too open when Nelsinho Pereira came free, but Amauri Pontes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 60 played minutes Saguoes got a freekick which was hit by Dorival Branco. Amauri Pontes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nelsinho Pereira's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. In the 70th minute Nelsinho Pereira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amauri Pontes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 72ndth minute of the game Nelsinho Pereira who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Saguoes's Amauri Pontes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Sílvio Veiga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arí Catarinense kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Nicolas Severo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Amauri Pontes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 92 minutes, Enéas Alves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Saguoes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Enéas Alves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
