A collision led to Metropolitano getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Patrício Tande hit a great ball. With a little luck, Metropolitano's Silvinho Corrêa got control of the ball when Amílton Velasco tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Metropolitano's Luiz Fernando Cruz got a free kick in the 21st minute. Silvinho Corrêa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Michel Moura, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Metropolitano's Silvinho Corrêa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Durvalino de Amaral in the 23rd minute of play. In the 25th minute of the match, Amílton Velasco got a very nice opportunity to score, but Silvinho Corrêa was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 30 minutes into the game, Marcinho Tavares cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Raúl Chaves was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Amílton Velasco came free with the goalkeeper in the 34th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Silvinho Corrêa could save by the left post. Silvinho Corrêa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Durvalino de Amaral in the 36th minute of the match. Durvalino de Amaral received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Silvinho Corrêa came out and tried to block the shot, but Durvalino de Amaral slotted it home off the left post making it 2-1 in the 45th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Michel Moura to make the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marcinho Tavares in the 51st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Raúl Chaves saved Imburi from getting behind. Silvinho Corrêa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Durvalino de Amaral, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Silvinho Corrêa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amílton Velasco, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Silvinho Corrêa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Michel Moura in the 54th minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 57 minutes, Amílton Velasco put it in 3-1 from a short distance just to the right of Silvinho Corrêa. Raúl Chaves was out of position in the 61 minute of play, and Marcinho Tavares capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Marcinho Tavares really showed his touch with that goal: 3-2. After having played for 64 minutes, Frédson Moura managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Metropolitano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frédson Moura was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 71 minutes into the game, Aloísio Dracena was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Imburi's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Metropolitano the free kick. Aloísio Dracena kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. If Frédson Moura had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Gilmar Duarte fell near the penalty area in the 74th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Imburi's protests and gave Gilmar Duarte a yellow card for diving instead. Gilmar Duarte hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Imburi's Raúl Chaves got control of the ball when Frédson Moura tried to sneak it across the goal line. Samuel Maranhense's shot from long distance in the 83rd minute was not bad at all, but Imburi's Raúl Chaves knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. In the 85th minute, Marcelo Vergílio reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Raúl Chaves. The goal made the score 3-3. Silvinho Corrêa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Michel Moura in the 96th minute of play. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
