The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of FANATICRUZ booed when Jutica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amadeu Saldanha didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lenílson Trancoso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Nestor Moreira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee gave Jutica a penalty, 40 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Gerson Almeida, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of FANATICRUZ's Michel Guedes. 0-2. Michel Guedes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Laerte Mattos in the 44th minute of play. Amadeu Saldanha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. When the match was over Jutica could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than FANATICRUZ throughout the match.
