After a defensive mix-up in Atlético-MS's zone, Durvalino Schmidt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Raphael Breckenfeld came out of the goal and Durvalino Schmidt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Raphael Breckenfeld didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Durvalino Schmidt went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Durvalino Schmidt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Raphael Breckenfeld tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Caco das Neves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Caco das Neves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ec Vitória's Durvalino Schmidt got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Caco das Neves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Mané Catarinense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Durvalino Schmidt charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Durvalino Schmidt the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Ec Vitória's Durvalino Schmidt got a free kick in the 26th minute. Mané Catarinense stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cafu Mandrak's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Belmiro Tinoco managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ec Vitória's supporters rose to their feet, but Belmiro Tinoco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Raphael Breckenfeld breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Durvalino Schmidt struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Raphael Breckenfeld didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ec Vitória. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Belmiro Tinoco to make the kick off. Belmiro Tinoco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Atlético-MS's supporters rose to their feet, but Caco das Neves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mané Catarinense breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Atlético-MS's Raphael Breckenfeld played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Durvalino Schmidt in the 67th minute of play. Cafu Mandrak's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 76thth minute, Mané Catarinense skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 85thth minute of the game Cafu Mandrak who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ec Vitória's Mané Catarinense was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 86th minute, Caco das Neves ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mané Catarinense was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. After having played for 90 minutes, Caco das Neves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atlético-MS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Caco das Neves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Durvalino Schmidt got his second yellow card in the match during the 91st minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After a rather tough play, Ec Vitória's Durvalino Schmidt got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Cafu Mandrak who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 96thth minute tested the skills of Mané Catarinense when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Ec Vitória:s Mané Catarinense showed great skill when he stopped Percy Linhares:s penalty.
