Sander's Fortunato Chizzo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Angelo Vasconcelos in the 11th minute of play. 14 minutes into the match, Sander's goal looked a bit too open when Toninho Vander came free, but Fortunato Chizzo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Váldson Cerezo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Armandinho Rocha in the 15th minute. 17 minutes into the match, Armandinho Rocha had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Váldson Cerezo. Carius SC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Armandinho Rocha was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. With a little luck, Carius SC's Váldson Cerezo got control of the ball when Armandinho Rocha tried to sneak it across the goal line. Marco Vieira hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Angelo Vasconcelos to make the kick off. Armandinho Rocha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Váldson Cerezo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Armandinho Rocha fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sander's protests and gave Armandinho Rocha a yellow card for diving instead. The referee felt a red card was in order, 65 minutes into the game, when Claudinho Severo put in a rough tackle. In the 65th minute, one of Sander:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Sander. Flavinho Pirani shot the penalty kick right outside the post. 72 minutes into the match, Joseph De Carlo notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of Carius SC's Váldson Cerezo. Váldson Cerezo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Luisão Teixeira charged in rather forcefully in the 75th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luisão Teixeira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Toninho Vander could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 76th minute of the match, but Fortunato Chizzo made a huge save. After some careless play in the Carius SC defense, Luiz Fernando Tavares kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Váldson Cerezo. The Carius SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Váldson Cerezo should have stopped the shot. Simão Secco's late challenge caught a Sander's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Simão Secco helped the player get up and apologised. In the 87th minute, Simão Secco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Armandinho Rocha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Luiz Fernando Tavares came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Sander fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luiz Fernando Tavares couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Carius SC's Flavinho Pirani got a free kick in the 95th minute. In the 96th minute, Glauco Pitta sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Carius SC's Váldson Cerezo didn't even have to move. If Armandinho Rocha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 99th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. There was no doubt that Sander were the better team. Sander's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
