Tibúrcio Trancoso was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Tibúrcio Trancoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Túlio Figueiredo in the 15th minute of the match. Gremio de futebol Butiá's Tibúrcio Trancoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Paulo Varela in the 19th minute of play. A collision led to Gremio de futebol Butiá getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Patrício de Carvalho hit a great ball. Clóvis Arantes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Tibúrcio Trancoso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Anderson Senna kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. The supporters of Club de Fútbol Grêmio booed when Gremio de futebol Butiá was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Priidu Virve didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Túlio Figueiredo kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Tibúrcio Trancoso. That made the score 6-0 in the 45 minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 6-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Túlio Figueiredo to make the kick off. Tibúrcio Trancoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gilberto Fonseca, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. Gremio de futebol Butiá's Tibúrcio Trancoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Paulo Varela in the 73rd minute of play. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Club de Fútbol Grêmio fully deserved thier win.
