Paulo Renato Arruda took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Antônio Carlos Mattos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Paulo Renato Arruda made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antônio Carlos Mattos in the 13th minute of play. The supporters of Ladeira SS booed when Real Guedes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rafael Reis didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Antônio Carlos Mattos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 20 minutes into the match, Real Guedes's goal looked a bit too open when Antônio Carlos Mattos came free, but Paulo Renato Arruda reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Betão Medeiros recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fernandão Macedo during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 23rd minute, Fernandão Macedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Paulo Renato Arruda showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedrão Pontes in the 27th minute of the match. After 28 minutes of play, Ladeira SS's Pedrão Pontes made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Paulo Renato Arruda was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Real Guedes booed when Ladeira SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulo Renato Gomes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jorginho Nogueira was a little too slow when Antônio Leite got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 34th minute. The score was now 1-1. After some careless play in the Real Guedes defense, Dráusio Araújo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Paulo Renato Arruda. The Real Guedes fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Paulo Renato Arruda should have stopped the shot. Paulo Renato Arruda showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Antônio Carlos Mattos, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. In the 44th minute, Fernandão Macedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half Ladeira SS were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Antônio Leite to make the kick off. Antônio Carlos Mattos struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Paulo Renato Arruda didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ladeira SS. Jorginho Nogueira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antônio Leite in the 54th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedrão Pontes in the 62nd minute of play forced Real Guedes's goalkeeper Paulo Renato Arruda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Ladeira SS's Dráusio Araújo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Paulo Renato Arruda. That made the score 1-4 after 66 minutes of play. Real Guedes's Antônio Leite got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Antônio Carlos Mattos got free with Paulo Renato Arruda in the 73rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Rafael Reis kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. After 75 minutes, Antônio Carlos Mattos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ladeira SS and the Real Guedes players grew even worse after the yellow card. When Betão Medeiros came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Real Guedes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Betão Medeiros couldn't finish the play. A very good chance. 85 minutes into the match, Real Guedes's goalkeeper Paulo Renato Arruda had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Paulo Renato Gomes. 86 minutes into the game, Antônio Leite cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-4. Jorginho Nogueira was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Antônio Leite fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorginho Nogueira having to interfere. Paulo Renato Arruda showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dráusio Araújo in the 94th minute of the match. The Ladeira SS supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Ladeira SS would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
