In the 20th minute, Ituano's Tibúrcio Peres seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Tibúrcio Peres the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Ituano protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Tibúrcio Peres had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 19th minute of the game. One of Ituano:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Cavalo negro:s goal. The referee gave Cavalo negro a penalty, 22 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Edu Rezende, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Ituano's Dionísio Mazza. 1-0. In the 25th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ituano's goalkeeper Dionísio Mazza, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a little luck, Ituano's Dionísio Mazza got control of the ball when Luís Fernando Lopes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Tibúrcio Ferraz kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Luís Fernando Lopes's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. Dionísio Mazza didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luís Fernando Lopes went, in the 57th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. A collision led to Ituano getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Eriberto Rocha hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Geovanni Cavalcante in the 71st minute of play forced Ituano's goalkeeper Dionísio Mazza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Cavalo negro booed when Ituano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Fábio Moreira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dionísio Mazza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Fernando Lopes in the 80th minute of play. Tibúrcio Ferraz blasted a shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Reginaldo Donatello having to make a save. When Tibúrcio Ferraz came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Ituano fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tibúrcio Ferraz couldn't finish the play.
