Anísio Arce's late challenge caught a REIfc's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Anísio Arce helped the player get up and apologised. After 22 played minutes Quincos FC got a freekick which was hit by Anísio Arce. Benê Sá received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Alexsandro de Queiroz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. REIfc's Adhemar Gaúcho got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of REIfc booed when Quincos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oswaldo Dantas didn't get a good kick on the ball. 38 minutes into the match, Teodoro Dracena had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Afonso Novaes. REIfc's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Teodoro Dracena was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. 47 minutes into the game, Oswaldo Dantas was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Quincos FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave REIfc the free kick. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Fabinho Terra to strike the kick off in the second half. Fabinho Duarte might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alexsandro de Queiroz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fabinho Duarte ran back to his position shaking his head. REIfc were awarded a corner in the 55th minute after Quincos FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Fabinho Duarte took the corner. The corner ended in Benê Sá almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Quincos FC's Alexsandro de Queiroz did a great save. When the match clock showed 56 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Benê Sá sped through Quincos FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Alexsandro de Queiroz. REIfc's Oséias Velasco got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Teodoro Dracena kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match.
