The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With a little luck, Susto's Jardel de Carvalho got control of the ball when Murillo Rodrigues tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 3 played minutes Susto got a freekick which was hit by Betinho Rodrigues. Susto's Jardel de Carvalho proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 8th minute of the match, managed to save Susto from getting a goal against them. Jardel de Carvalho made a fantastic save in the 10th minute, when Murillo Rodrigues sent off a good shot on target. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Arlindo Azevedo in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pedrinho Guimarães saved Rubineia AD from getting behind. Gugu Prestes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jardel de Carvalho having to interfere. Betinho Rodrigues charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Betinho Rodrigues the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Rubineia AD booed when Susto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Betinho Rodrigues didn't get a good kick on the ball. 27 minutes into the game, Rubineia AD's Basílio Rodrigues nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jardel de Carvalho made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Basílio Rodrigues received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Jardel de Carvalho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Betinho Rodrigues was shown his second yellow card after 36 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 40th minute the ball was on its way in behind Susto's goalkeeper Jardel de Carvalho, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Arlindo Azevedo might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pedrinho Guimarães. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Arlindo Azevedo ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Rubineia AD's zone, Arlindo Azevedo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedrinho Guimarães came out of the goal and Arlindo Azevedo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Pedrinho Guimarães showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arlindo Azevedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. In the 48th minute, Basílio Rodrigues fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Jardel de Carvalho, passed just outside the right post. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

In the 52nd minute, Basílio Rodrigues left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Rubineia AD fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. After having played for 56 minutes, Basílio Rodrigues managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rubineia AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Basílio Rodrigues was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Susto getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Osvaldo Catarinense hit a great ball. When Rubineia AD's Murillo Rodrigues in the 60th minute got a chance for a shot 60th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. If Basílio Rodrigues had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 81 played minutes Susto got a freekick which was hit by Arlindo Azevedo. Basílio Rodrigues fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jardel de Carvalho having to interfere. After 88 played minutes Rubineia AD got a freekick which was hit by Raí Amaral. In the 94th minute Murillo Rodrigues shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jardel de Carvalho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 96 minutes, Murillo Rodrigues managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rubineia AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Murillo Rodrigues was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rubineia AD's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
