In the 27th minute Davi Pimenta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chico Borges saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 28 minutes into the match, Santa cruz fc's goal looked a bit too open when Davi Pimenta came free, but Chico Borges reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Santa cruz fc booed when Palma was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cauan de Godoy didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half Palma were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Silvinho Duarte to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Santa cruz fc's zone, Isaltino Barreto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Chico Borges came out of the goal and Isaltino Barreto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Davi Pimenta got free with Chico Borges in the 74th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some careless play in the Santa cruz fc defense, Isaltino Barreto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Chico Borges. The Santa cruz fc fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Chico Borges should have stopped the shot. After 81 played minutes Santa cruz fc got a freekick which was hit by Silvinho Duarte. When Elano de Amaral came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Palma fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Elano de Amaral couldn't finish the play.
