Laerte Almeida came out of the goal and Carlos Alberto Queiroz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 21 minutes, Diego Nascimento managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Itaum AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Diego Nascimento was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. João Paulo Branco was extremely unlucky when he, in the 23rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 30th minute, João Paulo Branco fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Urussuhy's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Itaum AD had won, even though Urussuhy had held more of the ball.
