In the 23rd minute, Waldemar Cardozo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 24 played minutes Lamberio got a freekick which was hit by Matheus Matos. After 25 minutes, Waldemar Cardozo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Diniz FC and the Lamberio players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 25th match minute, Diniz FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Waldemar Cardozo to maneuver through the defense. Aílton Catarinense might have been able to make a better finish in the 32nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dida Cabral. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Aílton Catarinense ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Diniz FC booed when Lamberio was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tony Oliveira didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Paulo Renato Sarmento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Geovânio Meirelles made a kick off. Paulo Renato Sarmento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dida Cabral having to interfere. Dida Cabral stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aílton Catarinense's shot from short distance in the 95th minute. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Lamberio had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
