The supporters of ARAPONGAS F.C booed when Caramuru SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Augusto Queirós didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aírton Moraes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hílton Lucas having to interfere. Caramuru SS's Hílton Lucas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Osvaldinho Galvão in the 40th minute of play. 42 minutes into the match, ARAPONGAS F.C's Osvaldinho Galvão sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hílton Lucas narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpected shot in the 43rd minute by Chiquinho Moura got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

ARAPONGAS F.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Celsinho Matos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some careless play in the Caramuru SS defense, Osvaldinho Galvão kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hílton Lucas. The Caramuru SS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hílton Lucas should have stopped the shot. Caramuru SS's Hílton Lucas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aírton Moraes in the 84th minute of play. If Aírton Moraes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aírton Moraes in the 89th minute of play forced Caramuru SS's goalkeeper Hílton Lucas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 94th minute Osvaldinho Galvão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hílton Lucas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aírton Moraes might have been able to make a better finish in the 96th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hílton Lucas. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Aírton Moraes ran back to his position shaking his head. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. ARAPONGAS F.C fully deserved thier win.
