If Valdomiro Corrêa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jeferson Duarte fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manfredo Cordeiro having to interfere. Manfredo Cordeiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jeferson Catarinense in the 18th minute of the match. Bernardo Lopes kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. When Jeferson Catarinense came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Ijui fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jeferson Catarinense couldn't finish the play. In the 30th minute, Ijui's Edinho Oliveira ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Manfredo Cordeiro. Manfredo Cordeiro yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. Valdomiro Corrêa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Egídio Schmidt having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elano Ribeiro in the 34th minute of play forced Ijui's goalkeeper Egídio Schmidt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Valdomiro Corrêa took the ball and in the 45 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Egídio Schmidt. Egídio Schmidt dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jeferson Catarinense made a kick off. With an all-out effort, Itapua AD's Egídio Schmidt threw himself towards the right post 51 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Elano Ribeiro, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After a rather tough play, Itapua AD's Adalberto dos Santos got a free kick in the 60th minute. Jeferson Catarinense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Itapua AD's Manfredo Cordeiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luizinho Macedo in the 69th minute of play. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
