Vasco's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Samuca Alagoano was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. 18 minutes into the match, Betinho Figueiredo notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Vasco's Vitório Sabóia. Vitório Sabóia was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 25 minutes into the match, Betinho Figueiredo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vitório Sabóia. Márcio de Salles showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-8. In the 62nd minute, Betinho Figueiredo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cochilha fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-9. In the 70th minute, Baltazar Carneiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vitório Sabóia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Samuca Alagoano, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Breno Tavares in the 73rd minute of play forced Cochilha's goalkeeper Mané Aparecido to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With an all-out effort, Cochilha's Vitório Sabóia threw himself towards the right post 76 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Samuca Alagoano, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 78 minutes into the game, Cochilha's Betinho Figueiredo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. In the 84th minute Samuca Alagoano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vitório Sabóia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vasco's Vitório Sabóia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save Vasco from getting a goal against them. Juarês Passos received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Vitório Sabóia came out and tried to block the shot, but Juarês Passos slotted it home off the left post making it 0-12 in the 87th minute. Betinho Figueiredo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 91st minute of the match, but Vitório Sabóia made a huge save. Vasco's Vitório Sabóia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Samuca Alagoano in the 92nd minute of play.
