Spectators: 7227 (Terracing: 5422, Seating: 1662, VIP seats: 143) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Gualter Botelho kicked off to start the match. Edmundo Gomes came out of the goal in the 4th minute to try and stop a shot by Betim Saint Italian's Ulisses Félix. But to his dismay, Ulisses Félix quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. When Wiliam Simão fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Betim Saint Italian's protests and gave Wiliam Simão a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Betim Saint Italian getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Wiliam Simão hit a great ball. Edmundo Gomes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gualter Botelho's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. Edmundo Gomes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ulisses Félix in the 16th minute of the match. Eurico Quadros was extremely unlucky when he, in the 17th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. 20 minutes into the game, Benedito Paraíba was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Walter´S FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Betim Saint Italian the free kick. After a rather tough play, Walter´S FC's Benedito Paraíba got a free kick in the 20th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Gualter Botelho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Betim Saint Italian's supporters rose to their feet, but Gualter Botelho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Edmundo Gomes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 26thth minute of the game Ulisses Félix who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Walter´S FC's Edmundo Gomes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 29 minutes into the match, Walter´S FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ulisses Félix came free, but Edmundo Gomes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gualter Botelho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edmundo Gomes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. Edmundo Gomes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gualter Botelho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Walter´S FC's Edmundo Gomes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gualter Botelho in the 37th minute of play. Ulisses Félix fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edmundo Gomes having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Eurico Quadros to strike the kick off in the second half. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 65th minute of the game. One of Betim Saint Italian:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Walter´S FC:s goal. Gualter Botelho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 81 played minutes Betim Saint Italian got a freekick which was hit by Frederico Montenegro. After having played for 100 minutes, Gualter Botelho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Betim Saint Italian's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gualter Botelho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
