In the 22nd minute, Erasmo Passos sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Manguaça's Sidnei Braga didn't even have to move. In the 28th minute Luiz Fernando Dionísio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hortêncio Tepedino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hortêncio Tepedino made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luiz Fernando Dionísio in the 31st minute. Hortêncio Tepedino showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edgard Mattos in the 34th minute of the match. The supporters of Itaja Esporte Clube booed when Manguaça was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulo Renato Baiano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Valdomiro Vidal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sidnei Braga having to interfere. Hortêncio Tepedino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edgard Mattos in the 85th minute of play. When Doriva Furtado came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Itaja Esporte Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Doriva Furtado couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Itaja Esporte Clube's Ernani Cruz got a free kick in the 90th minute. Valdomiro Vidal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sidnei Braga having to interfere. For all the effort they put into the match, the Itaja Esporte Clube players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Manguaça.
