Ponte Sumaré's Bernardinho Duarte played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agostinho de Barros in the 16th minute of play. Luís Gustavo do Vale hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Piauna EC's Agostinho de Barros got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Piauna EC's Durvalino Vasconcelos in the 26th minute got a chance for a shot 26th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ponte Sumaré's goalie prevented a goal. Gualter Trigo charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gualter Trigo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Piauna EC getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Gualter Trigo hit a great ball. Piauna EC's Edmundo Nascimento played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmílson Leal in the 33rd minute of play. Dito Toledo hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. A collision led to Ponte Sumaré getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. João Augusto Macedo hit a great ball. Bernardinho Duarte made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Enéas Albuquerque in the 39th minute of play. If Gualter Trigo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ponte Sumaré's Bernardinho Duarte played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agostinho de Barros in the 46th minute of play. Luís Gustavo do Vale kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. Piauna EC's Durvalino Vasconcelos got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luís Gustavo do Vale made a kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Genílson Valladares during the 53rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 53rd match minute, Piauna EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Genílson Valladares to maneuver through the defense. Luís Gustavo do Vale's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edmundo Nascimento read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 58th minute of play. Piauna EC's Agostinho de Barros got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Durvalino Vasconcelos in the 62nd minute of play forced Ponte Sumaré's goalkeeper Bernardinho Duarte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 66 minutes into the match, Ronaldo Vianna dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Bernardinho Duarte, 1-1. Enéas Albuquerque fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bernardinho Duarte having to interfere. Bernardinho Duarte showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Durvalino Vasconcelos, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Carlos Fernando Reis hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Bernardinho Duarte took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Enéas Albuquerque, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Agostinho de Barros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Betinho Vieira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Bernardinho Duarte tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 82 minutes into the game, José Vítor Guimarães was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ponte Sumaré's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Piauna EC the free kick. A collision led to Ponte Sumaré getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. José Vítor Guimarães hit a great ball. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ponte Sumaré's goalkeeper Bernardinho Duarte, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Durvalino Vasconcelos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bernardinho Duarte having to make a save. With a little luck, Ponte Sumaré's Bernardinho Duarte got control of the ball when Durvalino Vasconcelos tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 89 minutes, Durvalino Vasconcelos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Piauna EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Durvalino Vasconcelos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 91 minutes into the game, Enéas Albuquerque recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Bernardinho Duarte. Enéas Albuquerque showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. The Ponte Sumaré fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Piauna EC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
