Edu Santana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dorival Peres in the 4th minute of play. In the 9th minute, Arnaldo Leal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edu Santana showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dorival Peres in the 10th minute of the match. After some careless play in the GPORT F.C defense, Dorival Peres kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Edu Santana. The GPORT F.C fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Edu Santana should have stopped the shot. Dorival Peres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edu Santana having to interfere. Dorival Peres sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Edu Santana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dorival Peres, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Canelas FC's Duarte Quirino got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Washington Guimarães took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arnaldo Leal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dorival Peres recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 38 minutes into the game, Duarte Quirino cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Edu Santana was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 44 minutes into the match, Dorival Peres had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Edu Santana. GPORT F.C's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dorival Peres was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

53 minutes into the match, GPORT F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Duarte Quirino came free, but Edu Santana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Duarte Quirino's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edu Santana read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. GPORT F.C's Edu Santana played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Duarte Quirino in the 62nd minute of play. In the 63rd match minute, GPORT F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bernardinho Trigo to maneuver through the defense. GPORT F.C's Edu Santana proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save GPORT F.C from getting a goal against them. Canelas FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
