Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. 12 minutes into the game, Romário Salles was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Camboapina's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave São Paulo Futebol Clube the free kick. When Olavo Toscano came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Camboapina fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Olavo Toscano couldn't finish the play. If João Pedro Seco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 19 minutes into the match, Rui Maranhense dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of João Paulo Couto, 1-1. João Pedro Seco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but João Paulo Couto made a huge save. When Caco Soeiro fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Camboapina's protests and gave Caco Soeiro a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Camboapina's Caco Soeiro got a free kick in the 26th minute. Vânderson Mendonça struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Basílio Toscano didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Camboapina. After 38 minutes, Oscar Queirós mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the São Paulo Futebol Clube and the Camboapina players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 38th minute, Oscar Queirós hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 39 minutes into the match, São Paulo Futebol Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Vânderson Mendonça came free, but Basílio Toscano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Camboapina's zone, João Pedro Seco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 42 minutes into the game, Camboapina's Olavo Toscano nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Basílio Toscano made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. After the first half Camboapina were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Rui Maranhense made the kick off in the second half. São Paulo Futebol Clube's Basílio Toscano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vânderson Mendonça in the 53rd minute of play. Vânderson Mendonça did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-3 to the left of a surprised Basílio Toscano 66 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Olavo Toscano got free with Basílio Toscano in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Olavo Toscano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Basílio Toscano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vânderson Mendonça recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Through an outstanding action, after 77 minutes, Basílio Toscano successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 80 minutes into the match, São Paulo Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Basílio Toscano had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Vânderson Mendonça. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but João Paulo Couto showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 96 minutes into the match, Camboapina's goal looked a bit too open when Rui Maranhense came free, but João Paulo Couto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Rui Maranhense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rui Maranhense in the 100th minute of play forced Camboapina's goalkeeper João Paulo Couto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the final whistle sounded Camboapina left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than São Paulo Futebol Clube.
