Luís Gustavo Varela came out of the goal and Marcus Marques tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Marcus Marques sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luís Gustavo Varela made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zé Rocha in the 19th minute of play. Arthur Veloso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Luís Gustavo Varela tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Marcus Marques came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Flora fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marcus Marques couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Flora's Luisinho Souza got control of the ball when Manoel Gaspar tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 33 minutes, Flavinho Corrêa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Monsanto AD and the Flora players grew even worse after the yellow card. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Zeca Baptista made a kick off. Sérgio Hoffmann hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Zé Rocha blasted a shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Luís Gustavo Varela having to make a save. Arthur Veloso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Gustavo Varela having to interfere. 74 minutes into the game, Zé Rocha recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Luís Gustavo Varela. Zé Rocha showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-1. In the 81st match minute, Monsanto AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zé Carlos Lopez to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Monsanto AD's Luís Gustavo Varela got control of the ball when Geraldo Barreto tried to sneak it across the goal line.
