Luizinho Sampaio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Through an outstanding action, after 28 minutes, Fiori da Mata successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 28 minutes into the game, Maracuja's Luizinho Sampaio nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Fiori da Mata made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. After a defensive mix-up in Atenas Itaim Pta ZL SP's zone, Lauro Veloso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fiori da Mata came out of the goal and Lauro Veloso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Lauro Veloso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luizinho Sampaio made a kick off. When Caco Pena fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Maracuja's protests and gave Caco Pena a yellow card for diving instead. In the 51st minute, Caco Pena hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Maracuja booed when Atenas Itaim Pta ZL SP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudinho Falcão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luizinho Sampaio scored 3-0 in the 61st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Fiori da Mata, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 70th minute Almir Domingues shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Murillo Antunes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Atenas Itaim Pta ZL SP getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Ciro Arósio hit a great ball. Maracuja's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luizinho Sampaio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 80th minute Luizinho Sampaio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fiori da Mata saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Álvaro de Castro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fiori da Mata having to interfere. If Paulo Meira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Maracuja's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
