Claudinei Berger could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 8th minute of the match, but Baltazar Arantes made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dorival Paiva in the 10th minute of play forced Dedos Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Baltazar Arantes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Evandro Matorin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 15th minute, Evandro Matorin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Dedos Futebol Clube's Baltazar Arantes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Dedos Futebol Clube from getting a goal against them. Dorival Paiva might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Baltazar Arantes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dorival Paiva ran back to his position shaking his head. Gilson Massa charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gilson Massa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Baiaozinho booed when Dedos Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gilson Massa didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 31st minute of the match Alfredo de Medeiros sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Baltazar Arantes skillfully saved the ball. Claudinei Berger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baltazar Arantes having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Dorival Paiva's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Baltazar Arantes was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. Dorival Paiva received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Baltazar Arantes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 46 minutes, Dorival Paiva managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Baiaozinho's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dorival Paiva was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Claudinei Berger recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dorival Paiva to make the kick off. Claudinei Berger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baltazar Arantes having to interfere. Baltazar Arantes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Afonso Gomes in the 62nd minute of play. In the 65th minute, Eusébio de Lima hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 67th play minute Abelardo da Costa came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Oswaldo de Salles. 0-2. Dorival Paiva might have been able to make a better finish in the 83rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Baltazar Arantes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dorival Paiva ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 88th minute, Dorival Paiva got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Claudinei Berger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Baiaozinho manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Dedos Futebol Clube to win.
