The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 17 minutes into the match, OFF's goalkeeper Luiz Eduardo Mattos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Walmir de Alcântara. Nildo Pereira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. The supporters of Muleque de Vila booed when OFF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tostão Ramalho didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 29 minutes, Hortêncio Diniz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. OFF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hortêncio Diniz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 32 minutes into the match, OFF's goal looked a bit too open when Sandrinho Rocha came free, but Luiz Eduardo Mattos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Walmir de Alcântara got free with Luiz Eduardo Mattos in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 42nd minute, Sandrinho Rocha fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Luiz Eduardo Mattos, passed just outside the right post. The OFF fans' excitement grew in the 45th match minute when OFF's Tostão Ramalho looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sandrinho Rocha was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, Muleque de Vila's Adrianinho Abraão got a free kick in the 52nd minute. When Horácio Mazza came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the OFF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Horácio Mazza couldn't finish the play. Nildo Pereira might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cícero Pirani. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nildo Pereira ran back to his position shaking his head. OFF's Tostão Ramalho got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 61 minutes, Walmir de Alcântara put it in 1-3 from a short distance just to the right of Luiz Eduardo Mattos. In the 64th minute, Frank Azevedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. OFF's Tostão Ramalho was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 66th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. In the 68th match minute, OFF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Túlio Moraes to maneuver through the defense. In the 70th minute, Sandrinho Rocha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. During the 71st minute of the match Sandrinho Rocha completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Sandrinho Rocha a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Cícero Pirani showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nildo Pereira, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. When Tostão Ramalho came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the OFF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tostão Ramalho couldn't finish the play. In the 90th minute, Nildo Pereira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 93rd minute, Hortêncio Diniz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 94th minute, Walmir de Alcântara made a precise shot to the right of Luiz Eduardo Mattos. OFF's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-4. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched OFF eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
