The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Alfredinho Pena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Válter Lopes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Horácio da Mata showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfredinho Pena, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Isaltino Pontes charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Isaltino Pontes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 18th minute, Isaltino Pontes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match had gone on for 22 minutes, Alfredinho Pena put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Horácio da Mata. Horácio da Mata showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfredinho Pena in the 25th minute of the match. The supporters of Campinho booed when LiverFla was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mateus Miranda didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 32nd minute, LiverFla's Marco Brito dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. The audience was convinced that Alfredinho Pena's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Horácio da Mata was relentless in the 35th minute of the game. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Marco Brito made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Marco Brito hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 54th minute Alfredinho Pena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Horácio da Mata saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Adriano Dionísio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 60 minutes into the game, Marco Brito was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. LiverFla's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Campinho the free kick. Marco Brito kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. In the 64th minute, Campinho's Alfredinho Pena ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Horácio da Mata. Horácio da Mata yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. Hortêncio Figueiredo kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. The long shot by Renato de Mendonça in the 68th minute really tested Horácio da Mata's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After 68 played minutes Campinho got a freekick which was hit by Bebeto Tavares. Horácio da Mata took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfredinho Pena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alfredinho Pena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Horácio da Mata having to interfere. Horácio da Mata didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 78th minute, which inside left pole to 1-3. Alfredinho Pena had several of the LiverFla's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 89 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-5 score and a disappointed Horácio da Mata as he didn't even see the shot coming. In the 94th minute, Carlinhos Mesquita ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Elivélton de Souza was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-5. Campinho's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
