An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcus Brodel in the 14th minute of play forced Campinho's goalkeeper Elivélton de Souza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 18th minute of the match Adrianinho Fonseca sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Elivélton de Souza skillfully saved the ball. Alfredinho Pena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Zé Pedro Vergílio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tijuca F.C.'s Zé Pedro Vergílio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfredinho Pena in the 21st minute of play. The referee ignored Campinho's protests and gave Adriano Dionísio a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Tijuca F.C. booed when Campinho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adriano Dionísio didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

In the 53rd minute Alfredinho Pena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Pedro Vergílio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Elivélton de Souza made an important save on a dangerous shot by João Pedro das Neves in the 58th minute. After some careless play in the Tijuca F.C. defense, Alfredinho Pena kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zé Pedro Vergílio. The Tijuca F.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zé Pedro Vergílio should have stopped the shot. Durvalino Martins recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 77 minutes into the game, Campinho's Alfredinho Pena nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Zé Pedro Vergílio made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. Zé Pedro Vergílio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredinho Pena in the 85th minute of play. 86 minutes into the match, Durvalino Martins notched a goal, 5-1, to the right of Tijuca F.C.'s Zé Pedro Vergílio. Zé Pedro Vergílio was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 90thth minute of the game Alfredinho Pena who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tijuca F.C.'s Zé Pedro Vergílio was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 93rd minute Alfredinho Pena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Pedro Vergílio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Campinho had played much better football throughout.
