Washington Recife succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 3rd playminute. After some careless play in the CRAC defense, Durvalino Martins kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dino dos Santos. The CRAC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dino dos Santos should have stopped the shot. Campinho's Elivélton de Souza proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Campinho from getting a goal against them. Alfredinho Pena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dino dos Santos having to interfere. In the 21st minute Alfredinho Pena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dino dos Santos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dino dos Santos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredinho Pena in the 22nd minute of play. The supporters of Campinho booed when CRAC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Murillo Queirós didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 24th minute of the match Renato de Mendonça shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dino dos Santos showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 27th minute, Alfredinho Pena ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dino dos Santos was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. After a rather tough play, Campinho's Renato de Mendonça got a free kick in the 30th minute. Elivélton de Souza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olívio Capixaba, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Elivélton de Souza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dalmo Antunes, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Rafa de Castro might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Elivélton de Souza. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rafa de Castro ran back to his position shaking his head. The long shot by Oséias Lara in the 42nd minute really tested Elivélton de Souza's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After the first half Campinho were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dalmo Antunes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Elivélton de Souza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dalmo Antunes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 59th minute, Murillo Queirós hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 65 minutes into the match, Washington Recife had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Elivélton de Souza. Campinho's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Washington Recife was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Elivélton de Souza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Murillo Queirós, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Elivélton de Souza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dalmo Antunes in the 76th minute of the match. After 81 played minutes Campinho got a freekick which was hit by Adriano Dionísio. Washington Recife scored 3-3 in the 84th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Elivélton de Souza, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With an all-out effort, Campinho's Dino dos Santos threw himself towards the right post 88 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Alfredinho Pena, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. With a little luck, CRAC's Dino dos Santos got control of the ball when Adriano Dionísio tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rafa de Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 96 minutes of play, CRAC's Washington Recife made it 4-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Elivélton de Souza was left in no man's land by his defense there! For all the effort they put into the match, the Campinho players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for CRAC.
