Doriva Donato took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jaime Mangueira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 11 minutes, Natã Queirós mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the CEARA SC and the Tupi players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 11th minute, Natã Queirós hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Valdomiro de Castro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luciano Cruz having to interfere. Willian Arruda received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Doriva Donato tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the CEARA SC defense, Matías Veloso kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Doriva Donato. The CEARA SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Doriva Donato should have stopped the shot. Fabiano Quintal's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luciano Cruz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. Fabiano Quintal might have been able to make a better finish in the 39th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luciano Cruz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fabiano Quintal ran back to his position shaking his head. Clóvis Monteiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luciano Cruz having to interfere. In the 44th match minute, Tupi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luís Fernando Vianna to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, CEARA SC's Juninho Alagoano got a free kick in the 46th minute. Matías Veloso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fabiano Quintal made a kick off. After a rather tough play, CEARA SC's Fabiano Quintal got a free kick in the 55th minute. Tupi's Luciano Cruz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Clóvis Monteiro in the 77th minute of play. 81 minutes into the match, Valdomiro de Castro notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Tupi's Luciano Cruz. Luciano Cruz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. CEARA SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Fabiano Quintal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luciano Cruz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fabiano Quintal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 90 minutes into the match, Tupi's goal looked a bit too open when Clóvis Monteiro came free, but Luciano Cruz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luciano Cruz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabiano Quintal, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. After 97 played minutes CEARA SC got a freekick which was hit by Gualter Moreno. Tupi's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
