After some fancy dribbling in the 2nd minute, Victor Carioca managed to get in a good position for a shot. Botafogo Star Clube's supporters rose to their feet, but Victor Carioca was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jaime de Sousa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 4th minute, Botafogo Star Clube's Arnaldo Barros ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jaime de Sousa. Jaime de Sousa yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Jaime de Sousa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arnaldo Barros in the 7th minute of the match. Jaime de Sousa came out of the goal in the 16th minute to try and stop a shot by Botafogo Star Clube's Victor Carioca. But to his dismay, Victor Carioca quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. When the match had gone on for 19 minutes, Júlio Custódio put it in 2-1 from a short distance just to the right of Simão Queiroz. The Phoenix FC fans' excitement grew in the 22nd match minute when Phoenix FC's Fernando Fernandes looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Phoenix FC's Jaime de Sousa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save Phoenix FC from getting a goal against them. In the 28th minute, Phoenix FC's Cipriano Viana seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Cipriano Viana the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Phoenix FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Cipriano Viana had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Arnaldo Barros kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. A collision led to Phoenix FC getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Fernando Fernandes hit a great ball. Arnaldo Barros could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Jaime de Sousa made a huge save. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Adelino Freire made a kick off. Jaime de Sousa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnaldo Barros, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. 55 minutes into the match, Phoenix FC's goal looked a bit too open when Victor Carioca came free, but Jaime de Sousa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jaime de Sousa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnaldo Barros in the 58th minute of play. 62 minutes into the match, Yan de Moraes dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Simão Queiroz, 2-3. Jaime de Sousa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tostão Falcão in the 65th minute of the match. After 66 played minutes Phoenix FC got a freekick which was hit by Cesinha Mazza. In the 67th minute, Ediberto Figueiredo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 70 played minutes Botafogo Star Clube got a freekick which was hit by Franklin Faria. 75 minutes into the game, Arnaldo Barros cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-3. Jaime de Sousa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Victor Carioca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Jaime de Sousa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 83 minutes into the match, Phoenix FC's goal looked a bit too open when Tostão Falcão came free, but Jaime de Sousa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jaime de Sousa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luiz Paulo Gaúcho in the 87th minute of the match. Jaime de Sousa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnaldo Barros in the 88th minute of play. 90 minutes into the game, Victor Carioca cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-3. Jaime de Sousa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Adelino Freire sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Botafogo Star Clube walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
