SERRASUL's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Fernando Moura came free, but Erasmo Matorin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 18 minutes into the match, Gordo Feio FC's goalkeeper Eriberto da Costa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tomás Vianna. If Tomás Vianna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristóvão Souza hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Silvério Romero's shot from long distance in the 26th minute was not bad at all, but Gordo Feio FC's Eriberto da Costa knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. Erasmo Matorin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luís Fernando Moura, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Luís Fernando Moura sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Edinho Antunes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The supporters of E.C. SERRASUL booed when Gordo Feio FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ademir Severo didn't get a good kick on the ball. 55 minutes into the match, Gordo Feio FC's goal looked a bit too open when Edinho Antunes came free, but Eriberto da Costa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpected shot in the 57th minute by Dorival Brasil got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 62nd minute of the game, Kléberson Silva landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. When Ademir Severo fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gordo Feio FC's protests and gave Ademir Severo a yellow card for diving instead. Eriberto da Costa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomás Vianna, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Dorival Brasil recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Edinho Antunes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eriberto da Costa having to interfere. Tomás Vianna received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Eriberto da Costa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 87th minute, Tomás Vianna got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tomás Vianna's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eriberto da Costa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
